According to SpareRoom, rents increased by 4% from the second quarter of the previous year, which is the lowest increase since 2024.
Northern Ireland (+8%), East Anglia (+16%) and North West (+6%) are the regions that have seen the largest increases in rent prices.
Rents in London have only increased by 1% per year.
Matt Hutchinson is the director of SpareRoom. He said, "Although rents continue to rise, we are starting to notice signs that things have slowed down, especially when it comes to how many people are chasing after every available room.
Rents are still a long way from being affordable.
Southend-on-Sea (+11%), Dundee (+10%) and Warrington (-2%) were the two cities in the UK that experienced the largest increase in rent prices year-on-year.
Edinburgh is the most expensive city to rent in, excluding London. The average room rent per month is £920.
